28-year-old woman catches cousin's 18-year-old girlfriend trying to take her inherited jewelry, causing family rift: 'Miranda ran crying!'

When you're trying to get to know your partner's extended family, stealing his cousin's jewelry is probably not a good way to get in anyone's good graces.

Miranda, the culprit in this story, may have been 18, but she was definitely old enough to know better. When she and her 25-year-old boyfriend, Eric, were visiting his cousin's place, the last thing she should have done was sneak into the cousin's room and search through her belongings. While she was snooping around, a case of vintage jewelry caught her eye. She couldn't help but look through all the items, picking which pieces she'd like to take for "safekeeping."

What Miranda did not realize was that this case of jewelry was gifted to Eric's cousin by her paternal grandmother. Of course, she should never have considered taking expensive jewelry items without permission anyway, but it's kind of amusing that of all the belongings she chose to steal, she selected something of clear sentimental value to Eric's cousin and to the entire family.

Just as Miranda had selected a few pieces she wanted to take home with her, the cousin walked into her room and caught her in the act. Surprisingly, the aftermath did not exactly go as expected. Sure, the cousin was not anticipating an easy road to forgiving Miranda, but she likely was not expecting making fresh enemies with her own mother along the way.
